Ahhhh food. Glorious food. I’m a big foodie myself, so whenever I get invited to photograph a new restaurant or café, I jump to the occasion. I have a high level of respect for chefs and kitchen staff who put their heart and soul into every dish. The way it’s presented, the choice of dish, smells and colour palettes are all part of the experience. What I find most challenging about food photography is that all the senses that you’d normally use to decipher a beautiful dish like smell, taste and sometimes sound, are unavailable when looking at a photograph of food. It’s all the other elements that a chef uses to create the whole experience such as the choice of dish, colour and arrangement that makes food photography so rewarding.
